with new beams and adjusted brilliance
casting off from polished mirrors
at low autumn angles through dry air
shadowed colder than before;
or the chance to change
which comes so seldom offers brilliance
and, winsome and papery, shyly mirrors
a troubled landscape under volcanic air
tumbled and tragic once before
underwent a movement of change
itself a doorway into light
