the welling of pressure
against the stop
short of its expression
unable to vent
the slow build up
and signs of pressure:
steam rising through
new cracks in the surface
(once calm and smooth
now charred and gnarled)
an increase in temperature
and the rapid exhaust
of kept gasses and
their rapid expansion
through a fatal flaw
into an exhibition
of flame and brilliance
how was this contained?
