Labor

I have found that
I am not the captain
but more comfortable
as an oarsman
under the beating drum
pulling and pulling
and pulling but whining
and complaining
how I should have
my own boat

Now adrift
wanting a pilot
a compass, the wind
someone to tell me
what to do next
instead of waiting
for the ship to leave
on its own
