A weakening, perhaps, before the eventual collapse -- we've all seen the pictures of stadiums and high-rises:
the initial blast from strategically placed explosives, creating small clouds of dust
where there was nothing
before but the standing history of our previous lives, the cities we lived in, the pictures we've taken.
The supporting structure is prone to pressure from the weight of all that is put upon it, finding release
only in that slow collapse: so many tons coming to rest finally, after held in place for so long,
dis-integration of the forces, re-alignment of molecule, the rending of structure and order
that was wanted for so long.
