There was water everywhere

When I came home into the place
that I had always known as where
me and my people have been always been.

A place always dry with the dust
of thousands of years of erosion
tearing away the fabric of eternity.

Where now water filled the streets
and yards became pools and habitats
and created new forms of life.

And our people and our structures
filled with change and hope
for the chance that has been given.

Changing the world and becoming
the next iteration of who it is
that we are and who we will be.
