declaration of independance

a final thought on the opportunity of independance
versus the stronghold of security and routine
(there is something amiss in the connection between us):

what is known is history indicates that struggle
(a stretching of truth of events and actions and motives)
often yields very different outcomes than what is expected,

(a distance and lack of desire for each other)
the grass seems greener but becomes a minefield;
weighed against the darkness and routine of everyday life,

and the growing disenchantment with the current regime,
small fractures develop in the existing framework,
(separate lives lived under the same roof)

revolutionary or counter-revolutionary,
(a rigid silence, growing distrust, our best days behind us)
releasing a necessary energy among parties

(knowing that we will soon part and unable to stop it)
but also, quite possibly, the cause of the disolution
cautiously hoped for but deeply feared.
